Factors to Consider When Designing Your Kitchen

Designing your pantry correctly is important because it will also serve as the heart of your home. Whether you want to enjoy your food or you want to host some guests and just enjoy quality time with family, the setting of the pantry is crucial in ensuring that you have the right atmosphere for it. Today, there are many different types of pantry designs to choose from and each one has its own unique features. But when you plan out the pantry as a whole there are some fundamental factors that you cannot avoid thinking about. Here are some of these basics that you have to cover in your designing.

How Much Space Is Available?

Space is very important because the designing that you do has to be proportionate according to the kind of space that you have available. If you do not take this into consideration you will have a pantry that looks uneven and cluttered even if the designing in itself is actually good. Before you set the layout for the pantry, take the right measurements of the space that is available and decide where the various elements like the sink or the stone and other kitchen benchtops will be fitted. Based on the space that is left over after the main elements have been placed, you can start on the additional features that are needed in the pantry like how much seating is practical and the likes.

What Is The Shape Of The Pantry?

Next, you also need to think about the shape of the pantry. There can be linear shapes when it comes to limited spaces and compact settings like in a studio apartment for example. Some of the larger shapes include spacious U shaped pantries or L shaped ones. The beauty here is that if you can determine the best shape for your pantry, these shapes can allow you to maximize on the space that you have available and give the illusion of a very large area even if in reality the amount of space that you have is limited. Based on the shape of the pantry you can then figure out how and where you would like to place your cabinets and the likes so that the area looks neat and tastefully furnished.

What Is The Colour Scheme That Is Best?

Next think about the colour combinations that you would like to choose in the pantry. The lighter the colours are, the bigger the space will look and feel. Therefore if you do want to incorporate dark colours like black and red or the likes, make sure that they are used intelligently with sufficient light shades like whites that will set off the colour contrast well and bring in more natural light and an airy feel into the space. Avoid using all dark colours on the walls and the floors as it will make the area significantly less bright. These are some of the basic details that you will need to think of when you design your pantry.
